Description and Requirements

What you will do:

  • Analyses market trends and movements for commodities and power. Assures Energy Management activities for the Country and supports analysis on new business development opportunities with particular reference to commercial risk and eventual market exposure, in relation with Business Development and Regulatory Dpts. and others.
  • Relates with the TSO (Eskom) for all the themes related to grid code and despatching of EGP SA’s plants.
  • Assures the management of all the PPAs contract for each of EGP SA’s plant in operation, providing daily production forecast to Eskom and manages the relation with Eskom for all the commercial issues.
  • Analyses and monitors eventual commodity risk of the managed portfolio.
  • Collects measurements of energy produced and consumed on the competent grid.
  • Assures energy budget and on a monthly basis assures payment and invoicing for purchased and sold energy, determining
  • incomes, costs and energy margin, also for accounting closing purposes, managing the relation with the Single Buyer offices (Eskom).
  • Assures periodical reporting. Maintains structured and periodical relations with central Energy Management units for best practice sharing activities and business share.
  • Manages all activities related to development of projects for obtaining CERs titles, or CO2 allowances, or titles to valorize on the voluntary market.
  • Supports Regulatory Dpt. for analyzing the impact of new regulation.
  • Supports central EGP Energy Management Dpt. for the analysis on new business opportunities in the African Continent.
Who you are:

  • Good knowledge of math, statistics, quantitative methods of analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of basic software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point). WB programming or advanced use of Excel (i.e. macro) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of technical software is a plus (data provider as Bloomberg or Reuters, software for analysis as @Risk, statistical software as R).
  • Working in team and availability to short term abroad permanence

  • Language: English (written and spoken) fluent.
  • Manage of multiple tasks
  • Work in a matrix context
  • Negotiations skills and aptitude to verbal communication with availability to interpersonal relationship
What we search for in you:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical-scientific disciplines.
  • Excellent knowledge of national and international contracts in the energy sector, with specific focus on PPA contracts used under the REIPPP programme.
  • Detailed knowledge of REIPPP programme in South Africa
  • Characteristics and composition of power prices, experience on power pools and on system marginal price pricing methods.
  • Technical knowledge of power plants is preferable, in particular knowledge of renewable plants (wind and solar).
  • Experience on plants dispatching, grid management, metering systems.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience is required at least in linked sectors.
