The Opportunity: 

 

This position is responsible for critical, advanced and/or non-routine maintenance and  

troubleshooting support for all Solar and Battery Storage projects in North America. The Solar Technical Specialist shall also support the review of electrical design, equipment selection, and construction of new projects in the EGP development cycle, with specific focus on improving the long-term function and serviceability of the proposed asset. Additionally, this position shall develop and provide training programs for field personnel on topics within their scope of 

expertise. 

 

What You'll Do at Enel North America:  

 

  • Provide advanced technical support for in the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul or repair of critical equipment. This work may be conducted from the office or in the field. 
  • Develop and lead a training program for technicians within the Solar and Battery Storage group. Training shall focus on Condition Monitoring Technologies and Electrical systems  operation, troubleshooting and repair. 
  • Coordinate with field and the Solar & BESS Reliability Engineers to assist with the development of a Reliability Based Maintenance plan for each operational asset  
  • Provide commissioning and start up support on projects under construction. 
  • Create and review technical documentation, specifications, operating procedures and troubleshooting support for the equipment associated to the company’s Solar and Battery 
  • Storage project portfolio based on technical knowledge and interaction with local and international colleagues. 
  • Assist in the development of Root Cause Analysis, Asset Criticality Analysis and Failure Mode & Effect Analysis for the Solar and Battery Storage portfolio 

 

Who You Are: 

 

  • A demonstrated knowledge of Medium and High Voltage three phase power systems, AC and DC power systems, inverters, instrumentation and digital control systems is required. 
  • Expert knowledge in the troubleshooting and repair of power plant equipment.  
  • Strong knowledge in the use of all power plant related test equipment including, but not limited to, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power quality analyzers, PV string analyzers, electroluminescence testing, thermography and associated test equipment.  
  • Certification in the use of such equipment is strongly desired.  
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret technical documents, tables, and figures  
  • Up to 60% of domestic travel. Occasional (5%) international travel. 
  • A valid driver’s license operable in all 50 states and Canada and a clean driving record. A clean driving records means: 
              - In the last 3 years, no driving-related suspension, revocation or cancellation, 
             no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless  

driving incidents. 

- In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI, refusal to  

test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at fault fatal

accident.

 

What You've Accomplished: 

 

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate in Electrical systems, electronics, electrical power conversion, solar power, or battery systems; or be a licensed journeyman electrician with relevant experience in related industries (solar, wind battery storage, inverters, etc).  
  • Minimum of 5 years of field experience in the utility scale (10+MWac) solar industry. 
  • Certification per FAA Section 107 to Pilot Remote Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems is required within 1 year of start date. 
  • Certifications in reliability-based maintenance and/or asset management (CMRP, CRL, CAMA, etc.). 
  • Knowledge of time and frequency domain analysis, power quality studies, airborne and mechanical ultrasound, thermography, dissolved gas analysis, and other Condition Monitoring technologies is strongly preferred. 
  • A strong personal drive and interest in reliability and continual process improvement.
