Descrizione e Requisiti

The Energy Management professional is responsible for supporting and executing energy management activities for EGP South Africa, including market analysis, power contract management, billing, curtailments calculations and claims, reporting, regulatory support, and stakeholder engagement. The role ensures the effective commercial and operational management of energy production and sales, while maintaining compliance with contractual, grid, regulatory, and internal reporting requirements.



What you will do:

  • Manage relationships with the TSO (Eskom) on all matters related to grid code compliance, dispatching, and operational coordination for EGP South Africa's plants.
  • Implement Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for each EGP South Africa operating plant, ensuring energy management contractual obligations are met.
  • Provide daily production forecasts to Eskom and manage commercial interactions related to energy sales and operational events.
  • Collect and validate measurements of energy produced and consumed on the relevant grid.
  • Prepare and manage the energy budget, and monthly support payment, invoicing, and accounting close activities related to purchased and sold energy.
  • Carry out billing of energy sales in SAP and ensure billing transactions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Carry out and understand the end-to-end energy billing process, including reconciliation of production, sales, system events, and invoicing inputs.
  • Maintain structured engagement with Eskom Single Buyer offices for all billing, settlement, and commercial issues.
  • Understand and manage energy and electricity consumption data relevant to plant performance, settlements, and reporting.
  • Interpret and implement PPA provisions in relation to system event notifications, including AGUP, Curtailment, and Deemed Energy Claims.
  • Review and coordinate claims and commercial impacts arising from curtailment events, deemed energy scenarios, and other contractual system-related events.
  • Understand and support NERSA reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of information where required.
  • Act as the point person for energy management-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prompt and coordinate with technology teams to investigate issues related to GEN-TUOS and GEN-DUOS arising from NMD-related issues.
  • Assure periodic operational, commercial, and management reporting.
  • Support the Regulatory Department in analysing the impact of new or amended regulations.


Who you are:

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Basic knowledge of quantitative analysis methods.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, as well as Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced Excel capability, including macros, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SAP billing processes and energy invoicing workflows is highly desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and use specialized Energy Management software adopted within EGP and EGP South Africa.

What we search for in you :

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in energy, utilities, power markets, renewable generation, or related sectors.
  • Specific experience with PPA contracts used under the REIPPPP programmes
  • Experience with plant grid management, and metering systems.
  • Exposure to renewable power plants, especially wind and solar, is preferred.
  • Experience with energy billing, settlements, and invoicing, preferably within SAP.
  • Familiarity with commercial treatment of system events, curtailment, deemed energy, and grid-related notifications is advantageous.
  • Understanding of NERSA regulatory and reporting frameworks is an advantage
