Description and Requirements

The Logistic & Warehousing Specialist reports to the Head of Maintenance Services and forms part of the Operations and Maintenance department. He/She is responsible for the oversight of the life cycle of renewable energy technology products particularly attributable to solar and wind technologies.

He/She mainly focuses on supporting multiple power generating plants’ uptime by enabling and augmenting plant maintenance performance and production on a day-to-day basis. Ensuring reliable, timely and adequate spare parts/products delivery and spares management are crucial in servicing the power plant teams’ needs and minimizing plant downtimes including providing guidance on spare parts, managing strategic/critical spares, materials and maintaining inventories from central to plant level. 

What you will do:

• Responsible for purchasing, preparation, shipping and receiving materials, spare parts, and services.
• Market analysis to identify sources for materials, spares parts and services.
• Identify components that can be purchased directly from manufacturers, and general providers.
• Define and establish purchasing strategies conforming to the formal process in SAP.
• Be clear and aware about different strategies for importing and exporting goods.
• Define proper procedures for purchasing goods and services in the local and international markets.
• Define strategies to deliver materials and spare parts to the plants ensuring cost control and optimisation particularly with regards to combining orders and transportation, amongst others.
• Define the proper procedure to do component repairs, identify workshops and local and international level.
• Keep track of strategic spares, purchases, spares holding, stock items, delivery and consumption in SAP.
• Support O&M personnel at office and plant level on the use of SAP for the purchasing, reception, consumption, repairs transactions, check inventories, amongst others.
• Keep the inventories at global and plant level to ensure the adequate rotation of the materials and spare parts.
• Establish and maintain maximum and minimum consumables inventory levels and establish and improve automatic control program systems.
• Provide assistance for maintaining logistics planning tasks.
• Aid with maintaining warehousing activities.
• Keep track of shipments across multiple channels and strategies.
• Keep a continuous analysis of deliveries, pick-ups, transportation, storage, consumptions, to improve the process in benefit of the plants.
• Support with maintenance of logistics policies, procedures and scheduling planning.
• Establish the proper purchasing process optimizing preparation of paperwork, delivery times, movements to the plants and reception.
• Define and establish storage strategies and needs at country, plant and area level.
• Create and maintain an organised warehouse environment.
• Ensure SAP training programs are rolled out to O&M colleagues.
• Prepare monthly reports to follow up the inventories, plant consumptions, material & spare rotations, and leverage against KPIs to show the effectiveness of the logistic strategy and the proper use of SAP.
• Keep contact with competence centres to update local procedures according to new policies.
• Keep a continuous analysis of logistics efforts in purchasing, transportation, storage, and identify ways to improve them in terms of time delivery reduction, quality of purchasing, as well as cost reduction of materials.
• Ensures conformance to company and plant budgets and follow up the proper purchasing process in terms of the use of capes, opex, MG, WBS, WO, Material Codes, others and support O&M group to properly use them on their process
• Stablish different agreements for the acquisition of materials, services and spare parts like close, open and frame agreement contracts.
• Proper usage of the micro contracts.
• Activate Global Frame Agreements for the plants.
• Provide support to EGP local and global Units on new projects, developments and new analyses.
• Supports central EGP O&M and Logistic Dpt. for the analysis on new business opportunities in the African Continent.
• Support O&M with technical investigations, where necessary, to improve plant reliability availability and maintainability.
• Support the development of new projects, as required by different Units within EGP.
• Participate in different plant analysis looking for ways to improve plant production and performance.
• Together with global organization, define and keep different KPIs that could steer our efforts looking for plant improvement.
• Keep close contact with SAP specialist at local and global level to better support our local procedures and support our plant colleagues in the SAP usage

Who you are:

• Good knowledge of statistics, quantitative methods of analysis.
• Strong knowledge of basic software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point). WB programming or advanced use of Excel (i.e. macro) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of SAP
• Knowledge of technical software is a plus (data provider as Bloomberg or Reuters, software for analysis as @Risk, statistical software as R).
• Working knowledge of PC computer systems and cargo management software preferred
• Valid Driver’s License.

What we search for in you:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehousing, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or related technical-scientific field accredited by recognized South African Council or Institute.
• At least 5 years work experience in power utility sector, preferable renewable energy within logistics and warehousing or similar role.
• Experience in managing warehouses and related subjects like purchasing, inventorying, reporting, bar code usage, contract management, and similar.
• Excellent knowledge of national and international contracts in the energy sector, with specific focus on PPA contracts used under the REIPPP programme.
• Detailed knowledge of REIPPP programme in South Africa.
• Technical knowledge of power plants is preferable, particularly in solar & wind renewable plants.
• Knowledge of SAP, working with this system for more than 4 years.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and country language.
