Business Development Manager (based in Ireland)

As a Business Development Manager, you will drive the growth of Enel X’s flexibility portfolio in Ireland by building new customer relationships and strategic partnerships across the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. Acting as a subject matter expert in demand-side flexibility, you will help organisations unlock value from distributed energy resources such as battery storage, CHP, and energy-intensive processes.
You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to design and deliver innovative, data-driven energy solutions that support decarbonisation, reduce costs, and generate new revenue streams—aligning with each client’s commercial and sustainability objectives.
Your responsibilities:
- Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities with energy-intensive commercial and industrial (C&I) customers across Ireland.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies and account plans in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Energy Markets teams.
- Engage confidently with senior decision-makers, facilities teams, and technical stakeholders to understand operational needs and present tailored energy flexibility and decarbonization solutions.
- Own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and qualification through to contract negotiation, closing, and post-sale handover, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
- Establish and grow strategic partnerships with facility management firms, ESCOs, technology providers, and industry associations to accelerate customer acquisition and market reach.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the distributed energy ecosystem, including battery developers and solution providers aligned with Enel X’s offering.
- Coordinate with internal teams including legal, sales operations, and onboarding to streamline the customer journey and maintain alignment
- Maintain accurate records of pipeline activity, forecasts, and customer interactions using CRM and sales enablement tools.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in the energy, technology, or sustainability sectors.
- Experience working with commercial and industrial clients, especially in areas such as battery storage, energy management, or demand-side flexibility.
- A proven ability to exceed targets and deliver customer-centric solutions in complex sales environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, influence decision-makers, and work collaboratively across teams.
- A self-starter attitude with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
