The Opportunity:
A true generalist role, this position oversees other lawyers and associate general counsels who are responsible for providing legal advice and counsel for specific areas of the business. This position’s primary objective is to provide counsel to the Renewables business, including drafting and negotiating various types of contracts and working as a strategic legal partner to the business. This is a highly visible position with a demanding and fast paced business. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a multi-national matrixed company and able to navigate accordingly.
The General Counsel, Renewables Division, USA and Canada has additional job responsibilities in overseeing the corporate functions to ensure they are aligned with the objectives of the business and the legal department.
What You'll Do at Enel North America:
Responsibilities, include, but not limited to:
· Communicate and liaise on all legal issues with internal legal and business teams.
· Direct and manage lawyers working in the renewables business.
· Manage corporate affairs of the company.
· Work closely with various departments to assist in legal documentation and strategies for achieving business goals.
· Work with Group counsels and corporate affairs department to provide information relating to the company as appropriate.
· Meet with all direct reports on a regular basis to maintain awareness of the company’s on-going activities.
· Monitor laws and legislation to assure company compliance with legal requirements relating to business activities.
· Monitors activities of other in-house and outside counsel to assure the company’s objectives are being met.
Who You Are:
- Expertise in litigation and international arbitration shall be considered as a plus.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in diverse legal subject areas.
- Strong leadership skills, and creativity to drive and motivate others.
- An outstanding work ethic and the ability to propose and drive organizational change; excellent interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to influence others and to gain support for his/her ideas.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; builds strong working relationships across the organization.
- Knowledge of Spanish or Italian helpful but not required.
- 15% travel required both domestic and international.
What You've Accomplished:
Requirements
- J.D with 10 or more years of expertise in energy law for the development of renewable project, M&A, project financing, procurement contracts for the construction and operation of power plants, commercial contracts for to sell and buy energy (Power Purchase Agreements).
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation and communication experience and skills and ability to represent the Company and communicate its position amongst senior stakeholders and counterparties.
