Description and Requirements

In EGP the Contract Manager is the reference person for all activities related to the project’s supply and construction contracts, interfacing with all the units involved in the project activities, Country, Business Development, Procurement, Administration & Finance, O&M, third parties and any other units or external organizations/authorities involved. The Contract Manager will be responsible for the contractual analysis, risk assessment, redlining of all contracts, and negotiations of terms and conditions to assure the potential risks to the company are adequately assessed and mitigated. Includes coordinating with internal stakeholders, negotiating with vendors, conferring with legal counsel, and determining mitigation strategies on legal issues.  Provide contract management support on multiple projects including validate invoices for payment, draft new orders, and prepare contract amendments. The Contract Manager is a trusted internal resource with strong partnerships and successful cross-department relationships with Project Execution, Procurement, Business Development, Finance and Legal. 


What you will do:

  • Provide full range “cradle to grave” contract management by providing input to Request for Proposals to Procurement to ensure all company Project Execution contractual requirements and specifications are included in accordance with company policies and procedures. 
  • Provide support and expertise during contract negotiations on terms and conditions of construction and supply agreements while liaising effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors and legal counsel and drive the review process to ensure timely execution of agreements to maintain project schedules. 
  • Support projects in the Execution Phase; monitoring multiple contracts’ performance and scope of work to determine compliance to contract requirements and needs for amendments, keeping the Project Manager and Project Execution Leader appraised of status. 
  • Support the Project Manager and Project Execution Leader in preparing and managing the Procurement Plan and project budget through review of invoices for cost verification, weekly cost event review with contractors, regularly updating tracking logs, monthly budget review with Planning & Control and Project  Manager, revise the Procurement Plan, prepare and distribute a detailed report for the project team and a synopsis report for management to keep the team apprised of the contracts accounting progress and to complete the project within budget.  
  • Reviewing Change Orders, tracking, negotiation and settlement of Change Orders and contractor claims and supporting Legal during Dispute Resolutions. Drafting of business and contractual correspondence and preparing and monitoring of project communication tracklog, prepares cashflow and hedging report. 
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing the drawdown report to the Lender’s Technical Advisor, co – ordinate with the Contract Administrator to ensure the supporting documentation for the drawdown request is submitted timeously  
  • Bank Guarantees: verify the compliance of the guarantee with the contract conditions required, in terms of amount, expiry and contract reference, requesting Company etc. 

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Construction Management/BCom/BCom Law or relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant professional experience in contract management, project management and/or legal experience (preparation and evaluation of contracts) in an engineering and construction environment with large scale construction projects. 
  • Experience in Renewable Energies (Solar/Wind) will be appreciated 
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in project financing will be an added advantage 
  • 2 -3 years’ experience in budget preparation and management.  • Experience and knowledge of SAP will be a plus 
  • Certification from PMI in Project Management like PMP, RMP or CAPM or CCM from IACCM (International Association for Contract & Commercial Management) will be a plus. 
  • A valid driver’s license.

• Leadership skills and ability to coordinate a small team  
• Willingness to travel domestic and internationally
