Description and Requirements

Site Supervisor function will be responsible for overall O&M Activities at Pulida Solar Plant and any other future project(s) constructed within reasonable distance to Pulida Solar Plant. Coordinate the plant activities with service providers and site personnel in general. Be responsible for supervision of machinery at plant level and take accountability for safety of personnel, plant, environment and persons in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and its regulations; other relevant and applicable local and international legislation (and regulations); and applicable international standards. Follow up maintenance activities to ensure maintenance plans are applied according equipment specifications and Enel Green Power (EGP) needs. Keep track of plant spare part inventory and coordinate with main service providers to keep at plant level all components needed for corrective maintenance. Use EGP software platform as SAP, SAS, CKS, etc. Ensure that plant activities are performed following EGP safety, environmental and quality rules and procedures without exceptions. Manage relationships of local stakeholders, Land Owners and Community Consortium in coordination with Community Liaison Officer (CLO) and EGP needs. Coordinate plant activities with Eskom. Be aware of plant commitments regarding Job Creation and preferential expenditures. Promote plant personnel training and development. Work in full communication with the head of Solar Technology, EGP head office and use technical departments support. Be proactive and encourage plant team to look for innovative solutions and procedures for O&M. Work to meet plant KPIs such as availability, plant production, Zero accidents, budgets for plant O&M cost, equipment failure rate, time to attend events and others.

What you will do:

• Manage Maintenance and Operations of plant(s).
• Coordinate plant activities following EGP Safety, Environment and Quality rules and procedures, aiming to ensure zero accidents in our duties.
• Be the custodian of occupational health, safety and environment for the plant(s), supported by Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) department. Carrying out all legal aspects for plant equipment.
• Provide statutory compliance machinery, equipment and facilities.
• Manage with support from your plant sub-ordinates, to plan and execute scheduled and corrective maintenance works.
• Coordinate, supervise and report on site contractors daily activities.
• Make available traceable maintenance and inspection progress statistics and reports.
• Provide communication platforms for supporting departments (Local Control Room [LCR], Technical Support, Performance improvement departments, auditors, Human Resources and HSEQ).
• Coordinate Technical and/or Operational Meetings with the Operations and Maintenance Contractors.
• Manage relationships of local stakeholders, Land Owners, Community Consortium, and interaction
• Coordinate Job Creation and preferential expenditures with the Community Liaison Officer (CLO).
• Utilize support of the EGP Technical Departments such as Maintenance and Technical Support (MTS), Support for Operations and Performance Improvement (SOPI), Solar Competency Centre (SCC) to share and escalate technical problems and look for solutions.
• Utilize provided Plant Management Software Tools to the benefit of productivity and efficiency improvement.
• Provide innovative interactions and implement strategies to improve safety, productivity, reliability and local service providers’ performance.
• Manage plant logistics and warehouse spare parts.
• Coordinate plant activities to maintain a plant equipment contractual availability and push to always perform optimally.
• Developing maintenance schedules in conjunction with adhering to O&M specifications.
• Liaising with Eskom, local municipality and community liaison officer; Technology Support Engineers, and the LCR in terms of plant up time and activities being carried out in the plant.
• Manage plant personnel as such as to create opportunities for their development looking for getting their best effort for the plant activities.
• Structuring personnel, fleet and technological services to support and respond to plant operations at any given time.
• Manage all contracts issued and other services in order to ensure best results.
• Finance application and monthly reporting.
• Authorize, permit and supervise MV/HV switching operations for maintenance and inspection purposes.
• Perform regular traceable inspections of quality and safety of the plant equipment/assets.
• Prepare plant reports to keep O&M fully informed about plant performance, results, and criticalities, others necessary to better run the plant.
• Parts of the technology equipment is automated, therefore ensuring all components pertaining to plant and substation communications are in order (including spares), collecting, quantifying data from different systems.
• Trace favorable conditions for executing maintenance versus production.
• Compiling and submission of Monthly Reports, and generation of plant update reports to general management.
• Review of equipment performance with supporting departments.
• Tracing machine performance through Power curves, Production analysis, Alarms and faults.
• Management of safe execution of daily tasks through provided technology and systems.
• Tracking performance of the technology and contractors.
• Providing required performance and planning and site activity reports as required by the Support Departments and Stakeholders.
• Providing input and support to all stakeholder meetings such Project Steering Committee, farmers union, local projects forums, local business forums, etc.
• Encourage the local team on doing plant equipment performance analysis and look for ways to improve plant performance as a continues activity
• Ensure to improve plant personnel skills by formal training and on the job training
• Ensure all incidents are duly reported, investigated and the root causes analysis.
• Supervisor of Machinery as the GMR2.1 appointee.
• Provide support to O&M organization on new projects, training, developments skills and required support to other plants.
• Support O&M with technical investigations and coordinated effort, where necessary, to improve plant reliability, availability and maintainability.
• Support the development of new projects, as required by different Units within EGP.

Who you are:

  • In depth knowledge of renewable energy industrial, power plant engineering, renewable energy power plant operation & maintenance, and environmental and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience on MV/HV equipment.
  • Proficiency in coordinating and monitoring contractors’ performance for O&M, safety, quality, and environmental conformance; and scheduling of activities.
  • Knowledge of the energy market and the relationships with Eskom, and government institutions in connection with this sector.
  • Managing people with care and in best professional way.
  • Liaison skills with Internal & External stakeholders.
  • Microsoft word processing, PowerPoint, and excel. Projects scheduling and AutoCAD software will be an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical English skills.
  • Detailed individual and organizational skills to compile and track plants documentation, events, and conduct performance analysis.
  • Good personal work skills with due consideration for office protocol and expectations.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
What we search for in you:

  • At least 3 years work experience in renewable energy industry or similar technical role in Operation and Maintenance. Solar technology knowledge will be an advantage.
  • Government Certificate of Competency for Factories (GCC (Factories)) is compulsory.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical-scientific field accredited engineering qualification, recognized and registered by Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or any other recognized and relevant engineering professional body. Professional engineering registration will be an advantage.
