If you want to shape the future of energy, we are looking for an Inventory and Logistics Specialist to join our Operations & Maintenance team!

Who you will work with
The Inventory and Logistics Specialist is a site-based position which reports to the Wind Site Manager.  The Inventory and Logistics Specialist is an important member of the site Operations and Maintenance team who must strive to provide the team with the resources necessary to achieve operational success.  This primarily includes the accurate management of site’s spare parts inventory.  The Inventory and Logistics Specialist is a physically active role with expectation to divide their time between site spare parts areas, the site office, and occasionally the field. 

What you will do
In this role, you will be responsible for/support the team in the following activities:
  • Ensuring spare parts areas remain under lock and key.  Escorting site technicians into spare parts areas and ensuring all spare parts removed from inventory are documented. 
  • Perform daily inventory review to ensure the previous day’s inventory movements are properly documented.  Ensuring site technicians return unused spare parts inventory. 
  • Physically receiving spare parts upon delivery.  This will require the ascending and descending of stairs.  The use of pallet jacks will be required following training.  Forklift usage may be required following training.  Manual lifting and lowering of materials up to 30 lbs.  Seeking assistance of others if materials are heavy or awkward. 
  • Cleaning and organizing of spare parts areas including spare parts rooms, failed parts storage areas, and warehouse. 
  • Devising and implementing the organization strategy of spare parts rooms, including layout of spare parts, suggesting shelving type and design, and developing labeling system. 
  • Performing daily spare parts movements in SAP including goods receipts and goods issues 
  • Packing and shipping of spare parts 
  • Periodic spare parts inventory counting with under 2% variance 
  • Ensuring the site’s inventory is stocked with the spare parts necessary to perform corrective maintenance on wind turbines without any spare parts shortages.  This will require an understanding of which parts are failure-prone based on historical failure rates. 
  • Ensuring the site’s inventory is stocked with the maintenance consumables necessary to execute planned maintenance on wind turbines without any spare parts shortages.  Depending on site location, this may require close collaboration with site Maintenance Planner.  Planned maintenance materials must be ordered in advance to ensure maintenance activities can proceed without delay.  Site Coordinator must develop a maintenance consumables tracker for the various wind turbines installed at the site to ensure accurate materials and quantities are ordered. 
  • Identification of manufacturer part numbers and SAP material numbers to for the purposes of placing new parts orders.  This may require the use of manufacturer Bills of Material, or the investigative work of internet searching and outreach to potential vendors. 
  • Setting minimum and maximum spare parts levels to ensure the site always has a safety stock of necessary spare parts.  This may be based on seasonal or ad-hoc project needs. 
  • Ordering of spare parts and other site goods 
  • Interfacing with spare parts vendors to ensure spare parts availability and lead times meet site needs prior to order 
  • Tracking of spare parts shipments and ensuring spare parts areas are prepared to receive new deliveries 
  • As requested by Site Manager - reviewing and compiling site work reports that monitor, track and detail site activities and areas of importance such as cost overruns, deviations in scheduled timeline, and stakeholder issues. 
  • Assisting Site Manager in monitoring, tracking, and reporting monthly spare parts consumption reports with associated costs; and providing a cost forecast for future months. 
  • Supporting implementation of innovation and digitization initiatives that increase efficiency and safety in operational activities, staying current with emerging technologies. 
  • Communicating, coordinating, and supporting site visits of senior management and/or local authorities.  
  • Mentoring and training site technicians on inventory management process. 
  • Delivering parts to field as required 
  • Running errands locally for quickly needed parts, goods, or materials 
  • Seeking out alternative spare parts which provide improvement in quality, cost, lead time, or design.  This may include the refurbishment of failed parts. 
  • Scheduling and attending meetings, conference calls and company events 
  • Traveling to other sites to support the organization and management of their inventory 
  • Performing other duties as assigned 

What you will bring
  • 3+ years of experience performing inventory management, wind energy background preferred 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • SAP experience is preferred but not necessary 
  • Current drivers’ license and clean driving record are required 
    • A clean driving record means in the last 3 years, no driving-related suspension, revocation or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless driving incidents.  
    • In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at-fault fatal accident. 
  • Ability and willingness to report to site daily, Monday through Friday, from 7:00am – 3:30pm. 
  • Working overtime hours as required 
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
